About Us

The Psychiatric Reception Eskilstuna is a general psychiatric outpatient clinic for the population of Eskilstuna municipality and is part of the psychiatric clinic at Mälarsjukhuset. The clinic is centrally located within walking distance from both the train station and bus stops.

The clinic consists of about 60 people with various professional backgrounds: doctors, psychologists, nurses, medical secretaries, occupational therapists, social workers, caregivers, and a physiotherapist. The clinic is divided into five treatment teams: General Psychiatric Team 1 and 2, Bipolar Team, ADHD Team, and the Team for Extended Psychiatric Interventions – UPI.

Your Responsibilities

For this position, we are looking for someone who wants to contribute to developing and maintaining the social, psychosocial, and social legal perspective for the patient, with the goal of helping the patient to an independent life.

As a social worker, you will primarily be responsible for cases focusing on the individual's psychosocial situation, factors affecting well-being, and requiring broader interventions. You should be able to provide advice and referrals to the right services within the municipality or other societal agencies such as non-profit organizations when needed. You need to have a good understanding of current legislation, including the new social services act.

In addition, the role includes having support conversations with patients and relatives and conducting individual and group interventions for patients based on evidence-based methods. You will also provide psychoeducational information to patients and relatives to contribute to the patient's ability to manage their symptoms and treatment. Crisis and family conversations, as well as participation in or initiation of Coordinated Individual Plan (SIP), will occur.

You will primarily be placed in one of the clinic's teams, but tasks will be initiated from all teams within the clinic.

Your Qualifications

You must be a licensed health and medical care social worker. You have personal maturity, are proactive both individually and in groups. You are structured and self-driven as the work involves managing your own tasks, but it is also important that you have good collaboration skills as you work in a team around the patient.

You contribute to a good working climate at the clinic by showing flexibility and good collaboration skills. Experience in psychiatric care, social vulnerability, or equivalent is an advantage. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
